
How long does a BSIS guard card take?
California BSIS Guard Card Process Timeline
The quick answer is...
- (1 Day) Complete the 8-hours training (Part 1).
- (1 Day) Submit the application and pay the application fees.
- (1 Day) Submit the Live Scan and pay the fees.
- (1 Month) Wait for the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) to process the fingerprints.
- (1-2 Months) Wait for the BSIS to process the application.
The Guard Card will be mailed by the BSIS to the address of record on the application.
Total Time: 3+ months
Training Requirements
You can start to work after completing the Power to Arrest and Use of Force 8-hours training. You must return later complete the remaining 32-hours of training (Parts 2 & 3).
